Policy & Legal Questions

Comprehensive answers to common questions about our policies, terms, guidelines, and your legal rights on our platform

What personal information do you collect and why?

We collect information necessary to provide our services, including account details, transaction history, and communication records. We do not collect or store payment information directly - payment processing is handled securely by third-party processors. We use collected data to process transactions, provide customer support, improve our platform, and comply with legal obligations. For complete details, see our Privacy Policy.

How is my data protected and do you comply with GDPR?

Yes, we comply with GDPR and UK data protection laws. We use encryption, secure servers, and access controls to protect your data. You have rights to access, update, delete, or restrict your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights. We'll respond within one month as required by law.

Do you share my data with third parties?

We only share data with trusted service providers necessary for platform operation (payment processors, shipping partners, analytics services). We never sell your personal data. Third parties are contractually bound to protect your data. We may disclose information if required by law. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

What cookies do you use and can I opt out?

We use essential cookies (required for site functionality), analytics cookies, and marketing cookies. You can manage preferences through our cookie consent banner or browser settings. We require your consent before setting non-essential cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

What are my rights and responsibilities as a user?

You have the right to use our platform in accordance with our Terms of Service. You're responsible for maintaining account security, providing accurate information, complying with all applicable laws, and respecting other users' rights. You must not engage in fraud, misrepresentation, harassment, or illegal activities. See our Terms of Service for complete details.

What happens if I violate the Terms of Service?

Violations may result in warnings, restrictions, suspension, or account termination depending on severity. We may remove listings, cancel transactions, or take other actions as necessary. Serious violations (fraud, illegal activity) may be reported to law enforcement. You'll be notified of any actions taken against your account.

What are sellers' legal obligations and responsibilities?

Sellers must provide accurate product descriptions, ship items as described, comply with consumer protection laws, honor return policies, respond to buyer inquiries promptly, and ensure items are legal to sell. Sellers are responsible for product quality, shipping, and handling disputes. They must comply with applicable tax obligations and business regulations in their jurisdiction.

What are buyers' legal rights and responsibilities?

Buyers have rights under consumer protection laws including the right to receive items as described, return faulty or misrepresented items, and receive refunds when applicable. Buyers must pay for purchases, provide accurate shipping information, inspect items promptly, and communicate issues in good faith. Buyers are responsible for understanding seller policies before purchasing.

How are disputes resolved between buyers and sellers?

We encourage direct communication first. If unresolved, either party can open a dispute through our platform. We'll review evidence and make a decision. Our decision is final for platform actions (refunds, account restrictions), but doesn't prevent parties from pursuing legal remedies in court if needed.

What is your refund and return policy from a legal standpoint?

Individual sellers set their return policies, which must comply with consumer protection laws. In the UK/EU, buyers typically have 14 days to return items purchased online, subject to certain exceptions. Items that are faulty, misrepresented, or not as described qualify for refunds. We facilitate refunds according to seller policies and legal requirements.

What is your intellectual property policy?

You retain ownership of content you create and post. By using our platform, you grant us a license to use your content for platform operation. You must not infringe others' intellectual property rights. We will remove infringing content upon valid notice. Counterfeit or unauthorized items are prohibited.

What items are prohibited from being listed?

Prohibited items include illegal goods, stolen property, counterfeit items, weapons, hazardous materials, and items violating intellectual property rights. This list is not exhaustive. We reserve the right to remove any listing that violates our policies or applicable laws. Sellers listing prohibited items may face account termination.

What is your liability for transactions and platform issues?

We facilitate transactions but are not a party to sales contracts between buyers and sellers. Our liability is limited to platform operation. We're not liable for seller actions, product quality, or shipping delays, except where prohibited by law (such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). See our Terms of Service for complete details.

What laws and regulations govern the platform?

We operate under UK and EU laws including GDPR, Consumer Rights Act, Consumer Contracts Regulations, and applicable marketplace regulations. Users must comply with laws in their jurisdiction. International transactions may be subject to additional regulations. We cooperate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities as required by law.

Can my account be terminated and what happens to my data?

Yes, we may terminate accounts for Terms of Service violations, illegal activity, fraud, or other legitimate business reasons. Upon termination, your access is revoked, but we may retain transaction records and data as required by law. You can request data deletion subject to legal retention requirements. Active disputes may delay account closure.

How are fees, payments, and financial transactions handled?

We charge platform fees as disclosed in our Terms of Service. Payment processing is handled by secure third-party processors (Stripe). All fees are clearly disclosed before transactions. Refunds are processed according to seller policies and legal requirements. We comply with payment services regulations.

How often are policies updated and how will I be notified?

We may update policies periodically to reflect legal changes or platform improvements. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notifications. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance. Policy versions are dated. You can review current policies anytime. We recommend reviewing policies regularly.

What is your dispute resolution and arbitration policy?

We provide internal dispute resolution for platform-related issues. For legal disputes, our Terms of Service may require binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. Some jurisdictions allow opting out of arbitration. See our Terms of Service for complete dispute resolution procedures.

What security measures protect my account and transactions?

We use encryption (SSL/TLS), secure authentication, regular security audits, and industry-standard practices. However, you're responsible for maintaining account security including strong passwords, not sharing credentials, and reporting suspicious activity. We're not liable for unauthorized access due to user negligence. Enable two-factor authentication when available for enhanced security.

Can I use the platform from outside the UK/EU?

Platform availability varies by jurisdiction. Users outside UK/EU must comply with local laws and our Terms of Service. Some features may be restricted. International transactions may involve additional regulations, customs, taxes, and shipping restrictions. Users are responsible for ensuring their use complies with local laws.

What are the tax implications of buying or selling on the platform?

Buyers may be responsible for import duties, VAT, or sales tax depending on location and transaction value. Sellers are responsible for reporting income and paying applicable taxes. We may collect and remit taxes where required by law. We provide transaction records for tax purposes. Users should consult tax professionals for specific obligations.

What are the rules for reviews, ratings, and user-generated content?

Reviews must be honest, accurate, and based on actual transactions. Prohibited: fake reviews, reviews for compensation, defamatory content, spam, or content violating others' rights. We may remove reviews that violate policies. Users retain ownership but grant us license to use content. We reserve the right to moderate user-generated content.

How can I contact you about policy questions or exercise my rights?

Contact us through our support channels for policy questions, data requests, or to exercise your legal rights. We'll respond within one month for GDPR requests (extendable to two months for complex requests). Include relevant details and account information when contacting us.
